The CEO of Enagás emphasised that “the energy transition is not just about climate or technology; it is also the major economic and social transformation of our time, and we need to move forward on the basis of equality”
Arturo Gonzalo emphasised the importance of making the most of all available talent to ensure that the energy transition creates economic growth in a sustainable and inclusive manner. He made the point during his participation in the 8th ClosinGap Economic Equality Summit, held at the Repsol Campus Auditorium in Madrid on 15 October, where he stated that “the energy transition is not just about climate or technology; it is also the major economic and social transformation of our time, and we need to move forward on the basis of equality”.
The CEO of Enagás emphasised the need to promote female talent at every stage of a professional career, from encouraging an interest in scientific and technical fields to ensuring access to leadership and decision-making roles. In this regard, he noted that women currently make up 50% of Enagás’ Executive Committee and have accounted for 40% of its Board of Directors since 2022.
During the session Building the Dividend: Participating Fully in Growth, Arturo Gonzalo joined Paloma Marín Bona, Vice-Chair of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), in a conversation moderated by Lucila García, CEO of ClosinGap. He highlighted the need to close the gender gap in sectors such as energy and said that the El Musel regasification terminal, the latest to come into operation, has a workforce split equally between women and men.
