As part of its commitment to the energy transition and the promotion of key energy carriers for decarbonisation, Enagás is launching two non-binding market consultations: one aimed at the development of renewable hydrogen infrastructure and the other focused on CO₂ logistics infrastructure.
In order to assess the potential of Spain’s green hydrogen market, Enagás carried out an initial call for interest process in 2023. The results supported the proposal for the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network, which is currently included on the European list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI).
The process is aimed at stakeholders interested in the use of hydrogen infrastructure in Spain, in their capacity as producers, consumers and/or marketers/traders of renewable hydrogen, both for domestic consumption and for export purposes.
Information session: Access the information presented in the webinar at this link, as well as the questions and answers about the process.
Thank you to all the organizations that participated in Enagás’ Call for Interest for the development of renewable hydrogen infrastructure.
The process has now closed, and the information received will be key to the next steps.
Depending on the regulatory updates that are currently pending, we may contact some participants again to validate any potential impacts on the information reported.
In addition, A dedicated email address, callforinterestH2@enagas.es, has been set up for submitting any questions or requests for clarification related to this process.

In order to assess the level of interest within the national market in the development of CO₂ capture, transmission, storage and utilisation projects, Enagás launched an initial Call for Interest in 2023. This process made it possible to identify industrial demand clusters and define potential hubs with specific CO₂ logistics needs. Based on the results obtained, Enagás has developed three infrastructure hubs, COnet2 North, COnet2 Mediterranean and COnet2 Atlantic, supported by pre conceptual studies and pre feasibility engineering work. These studies have enabled an initial technical and economic assessment of the transmission and storage solutions required in each area.
Within this context, Enagás is launching a new non-binding market consultation with the aim of updating and expanding the information gathered, incorporating new projects and progressing in the design of logistics solutions by hubs, in order to define and offer efficient alternatives to emitters and potential users that are tailored to their needs, facilitate their decarbonisation and support access to public funding.
During the consultation, information will be collected regarding volumes, location, timelines and logistics preferences, while ensuring aggregated data treatment and the highest level of confidentiality at all times. The information obtained will enable Enagás to define and offer efficient logistics solutions tailored to each emitter, and the results will be communicated to the market once the process has concluded.
Information session: Access the recording of the session below, which was held on 20 May at 10:30 a.m.
Thank you to all the organizations that participated in Enagás’ CO₂ Infrastructure Call for Interest.
The process has now closed, and the information received will be key to the next steps in the development of the CO₂ transport and storage network in Spain.
The results will be communicated in an aggregated format to all participants.
In addition, a specific e-mail address has been set up, callforinterestCO2@enagas.es, to which all doubts or clarifications can be sent. For more information, please visit the webpage section on CO2 infrastructure in Spain.
