The Dubai World Expo or Expo 2020, which is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after being postponed due to the pandemic, featured the Spain Entrepreneurial Nation Summit as part of Spain Week at the Expo.
At this event on national entrepreneurship, organised by the High Commissioner for Spain Entrepreneurial Nation and held on-site in the Spanish pavilion, the most technologically innovative Spanish initiatives and projects were presented, with the participation of the most enterprising corporations.
Fernando Impuesto, General Manager of Enagás Emprende, participated along with other leading corporations in innovation entrepreneurship in a meeting entitled ‘Scaling on the shoulders of Giants’. Impuesto spoke of the challenge of the energy transition, stating that there is a need for “smooth and productive cooperation between corporations, start-ups, institutions, enablers and the rest of the ecosystem. In this sense, initiatives such as this one, promoted by the Government of Spain through the High Commissioner for Spain Entrepreneurial Nation, are fundamental”.
He also shared Enagás Emprende’s view on the importance of open innovation and the development of start-ups to open new markets and incorporate disruptive technologies to drive decarbonisation.
Enagás is among the 50 best companies in the world in this area of work. This was recognised for the third consecutive year by the international innovation consultancy Mind the Bridge and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at the Corporate Startup Stars Awards 2021 by a jury of international experts in entrepreneurship and corporate venturing.
“Connecting Minds, Building Futures” is the central theme of Expo 2020 Dubai, the first universal event of its kind to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region.
