The Enagás Director of Strategy and Planning, Mayte Nonay, has highlighted that Europe's industrial competitiveness will depend increasingly on factors such as access to energy infrastructure and to locally produced renewable molecules. “If we do not start to incorporate factors such as access to networks and access to domestic molecules into the competitiveness equation, we will not be able to be competitive tomorrow”, she stated at the presentation of the report Why does Europe need green molecules? by Moeve and PwC on 7 July at the headquarters of the Club Español de la Energía in Madrid.

“Energy infrastructure is strategic and a differentiating factor for any country because it provides security of supply, resilience and price containment”, she stressed, highlighting the key role of infrastructure in connecting production and demand and facilitating the creation of a green molecules market in Spain and in Europe.

In particular, she highlighted the crucial role of the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network and the H2med corridor in providing resilience, security of supply and greater integration of European energy markets.

Mayte Nonay took part in a round table moderated by the Technical Secretary of the Club Español de la Energía, Ana Padilla, with the participation of bp's Head of Institutional Affairs for Spain and Portugal, Vega Tapia; EDP's Executive Director of Regulation and Markets in Spain, José Manuel Pérez; Endesa's Director of Generation Regulation and Wholesale Markets, Eduardo Moreda; Iberdrola's Director of Green Hydrogen Combined Cycle Plants, Carmen Vozmediano; Naturgy's Head of Energy Transition, Intelligence, Markets and Innovation, Nuria de Lucas; PwC's Energy Partner, Oscar Barrero; and Repsol's Sustainability Manager, Carolina Ibáñez.
