In the year to date national demand has increased by 5%, its highest increase since 2008
Conventional demand for natural gas, for residential, retail and industrial users, has grown by 9% in the month of October compared to the same month last year. In addition, deliveries of natural gas for electricity generation have increased by 1%.
In total, national demand for natural gas has grown by 8% during this month of October compared to the same month in 2014.
The sectors where the demand for gas has grown most during this month have largely been the metals sector (28%), service sector (13%), chemical/pharmaceutical industry (12%) and the refining industry (5%). In addition, the demand for natural gas in the residential, retail and SME sector has increased by 39% as a result of the temperatures.
In the year to date, to 31 October, national demand for natural gas has grown by 5%. The first three quarters of this financial year have seen the demand for natural gas growing for the first time since 2008. This positive trend has been maintained at the start of this fourth quarter.
