01 March 2010

In February, demand for natural gas grew 10.5% year-on-year to 36,765 GWh. Including exports, total demand for natural gas transported by  the gas system rose by 15.4%.

Conventional demand —domestic and industrial— increased by 11.2% and demand for gas for power generation rose 8.5% compared to February 2009.

Year to date, demand stands 5.7% higher than the figure recorded in the first two months of 2009.

For the third consecutive month, demand for natural gas has shown a year-on-year increase, not only due because of the lower temperatures but also due to higher industrial consumption in most sectors.
