  • Within the framework of the 25th joint Council of Ministers between France and Germany, chaired by Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Friedrich Merz, both countries have reaffirmed their commitment to the Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor—which includes the strategic H2med and HY-FEN projects—and have qualified it as a "flagship project."

In their new common economic agenda, France and Germany emphasize that the corridor will have the continuous support of the hydrogen working group of both countries, support that they extend to the Alliance on the H2Med Southwestern Corridor. France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and the European Commission will continue to maintain a joint dialogue about the corridor.

H2med is driven by operators from Portugal (REN), Spain (Enagás), France (Teréga and NaTran), and Germany (OGE) and has the support of the governments of these four countries and of the European Commission, as well as industry and the main players in the sector.

This project was included in April 2024 as a European Project of Common Interest (PCI) and the European Commission granted it 100% of the CEF funds requested for the studies phase.
