Enagás Chairman, Antonio Llardén, stressed that sustainability is a key pillar for the competitiveness of European companies and underlined the company's commitment to ESG principles. "For Enagás, sustainability is a key element in our company policy", he stated at the IV Sustainability Observatory of the Círculo de Empresarios-EY, held on 25 March in Madrid.
Llardén underlined Enagás' strong progress towards its goal of becoming a Net Zero company by 2040 and stated that in ten years, between 2014 and 2024, the company reduced its CO2 emissions by 60%. "At Enagás, our experience shows us that making firm commitments and implementing strategies with specific objectives and actions generates tangible results", he remarked.
During his speech, the Chairman of Enagás stressed that "Enagás' strategic focus is on security of supply and decarbonisation in both Spain and Europe, with a firm commitment to energy transition and sustainability, with the priority of developing a European renewable hydrogen network to help accelerate the decarbonisation process".
Llardén stressed that Enagás has also set itself the goal of being a Net Zero company in its Scope 3 emissions: "In the Strategic Update we presented a month ago, we made an irreversible commitment, which is at the core of our strategy, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in the activities that involve our value chain.
The Enagás Chairman also highlighted the fact that the European Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to the green agenda, positioning it as a fundamental element for industrial and business competitiveness. This is evidenced by the recent Competitiveness Compass and Clean Industrial Deal strategic plans.
The Chairman of Enagás took part in the dialogue "The competitiveness/sustainability tandem for Spanish companies" together with the independent Director of Técnicas Reunidas, Silvia Iranzo, which was moderated by the Chairman of the Sustainability Working Group of the Círculo de Empresarios, Francisco Román.
