Enagás President, Antonio Llardén, was appointed as the new Chairman of the Social Council of the University of Barcelona on 5 March in the University’s Historic Building. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Rector, Joan Guàrdia, and had the presence of Núria Montserrat, the Minister for Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia.
Llardén is taking over from Joan Corominas, who has chaired the Social Council for the last ten years. “It’s a true honour for me to join the University of Barcelona, whose Social Council seeks to ensure that the university is fully connected with society”, declared Llardén in his inauguration speech as head of the body responsible for civil society participation in the functioning and governance of the university.
“The country’s future depends on the strength of the university system”, and “in a profoundly changing environment, the university must provide a space for strategic anticipation”, he stated.
