On that day, demand for natural gas for electricity generation also set a new record, with 754GWh

Demand for natural gas in Spain set a new summer record on Friday 20 June of 1,403 GWh. This is a 13% increase on the previous summer’s record of 1,239 GWh which was reached on 19 July 2007.
In addition, on that day, demand for natural gas for electricity generation also set a new record of 754 GWh, 2% more than the previous record of 742 GWh set on 14 December 2007.  
On Friday the weight of the contribution from combined cycle thermal plants to electricity generation reached 48% due to the increase in temperatures, low wind generation and a significant decline in generation from coal-fired thermal plants.
