  • Enagás Director of Hydrogen, Jesús Gil, participated in the ABC Empresa Forum and detailed the progress of the Public Participation Plan for this hydrogen infrastructure

Enagás Director of Hydrogen, Jesús Gil, stressed that the design of the Spanish hydrogen backbone incorporates a sustainable and digital infrastructure. "We are designing this new infrastructure network to be environmentally sustainable," he said at the ABC Business Forum Joining Forces for a Green Energy Future held on 27 June in Madrid.

Jesús Gil added that in this process the company is using cutting-edge technologies to make the infrastructure a smart grid. "We are working to incorporate all the solutions that will allow us to optimise network management," he added.

Enagás' Director of Hydrogen explained the Public Participation Plan for the backbone network that the company is deploying in 13 autonomous communities and 550 municipalities. He pointed out that the objective is to address the social and environmental concerns of administrations, citizens and civil society regarding the infrastructure, as part of the largest plan of its kind developed in Spain.

He also highlighted the capacity of green hydrogen to contribute to the stability of the energy system, especially at a time when the deployment of renewable energies requires flexible infrastructures that are ready to integrate new technologies.

Jesús Gil participated in a round table discussion entitled Green hydrogen and renewable energies: networks and the new architecture of the energy system with the Director of Energy Management of Axpo Iberia, Gabriel Aguiló; the Director of Operations of Verbund Green Power Iberia, José Benito García and the Director of Redexis Renovables, Miguel Mayrata. The panel was moderated by ABC Empresa contributor Alberto Velázquez.
