Enagás CEO Arturo Gonzalo highlighted the take-off of the Andalusian hydrogen economy due to the progress of projects and infrastructures. "Andalusia has the potential to be a central hub for hydrogen in Spain," he said during the inauguration of the 3rd National Green Hydrogen Congress, held in Huelva from 4 to 6 February.
The Enagás CEO emphasised that the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network is essential for the development of this vector in the region. "Andalusia has a key role to play in the layout of the infrastructure," he said, stressing the company's commitment to incorporate the hydrogen pipeline between Huelva and Algeciras into the network's route.
Gonzalo underlined Enagás' strong progress in the development of the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network: the conceptual engineering and the basic and detailed engineering contracts for the network and its three compressor stations have already been completed.
"There is an industry that needs green hydrogen and is willing to make investment decisions so that what is already happening in other parts of the world can happen in Europe and Spain," he said.
Enagás' Director of Hydrogen, Jesús Gil, also took part in the plenary session on Advances in the development of hydrogen infrastructure in Spain. He explained the evolution in the development of H2med and the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network, highlighting the Public Participation Plan for this infrastructure.
