29 July 2015

• Gas consumed for power generation is expected to reach 7,900 GWh in july, the highest level since 2012

• On 21 july, demand for natural gas for electricity generation reached a new maximum of 387 GWh, the highest since 2012

Demand for natural gas for electricity generation is expected to reach approximately 7,900 GWh in July, the top level since February 2012.

In addition, on 21 July demand for gas for power generation reached 387 GWh, a record since 2012.

The reasons for these consumption figures are the high temperatures this month, which have prompted a sharp rise in demand for electricity, and lower wind generation.

July has been one of the hottest in Spain since records began, with a heatwave that started in June and lasted three weeks.
