The Enagás sustainability strategy acknowledged by S&P Global with a gold medal

08 February 2021

• Enagás leads the ranking of the Gas Utilities sector and receives the Gold Class 2021 (gold medal) award for its performance and transparency in economic, environmental and social matters.
• As it does every year, the S&P Global agency acknowledges the world’s leading organisations in terms of ESG performance in its Global Sustainability Yearbook.

Enagás has been included in the 2021 edition of the Global Sustainability Yearbook, a publication issued by S&P Global every year since 2004 in which the agency analyses and acknowledges the performance and excellence of companies around the world according to sustainability, social and corporate governance (ESG) criteria.

With a score of 87 points out of a possible 100, the company obtained the highest score and, as a result, leads the world in its sector, Gas Utilities.

For this year’s review process, S&P Global Index examined the world’s 7,032 largest companies and, after rigorous analysis, selected only the 631 most sustainable ones on the basis of economic, environmental and social criteria. A total of 24 Spanish companies appear in this year’s ranking, and only three of these, including Enagás, received the Gold Class award.

These results recognize the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality, its setting of ambitious emission reduction targets aligned with science and its commitment to the development of hydrogen and other renewable gases.

Since 2014, Enagás has reduced its global emissions by more than 60% and has defined a decarbonisation strategy based on prioritising measures to reduce emissions and to subsequently offset emissions where it is not technically feasible to reduce them.
