How to become a natural gas shipper

If you wish to ship natural gas in Spain, you must notify the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism’s Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines.

The notification must include the company’s name, tax ID number, postal address and telephone no., in addition to the geographical area where you intend to operate and the commencement date. In addition, the notification must be accompanied by a statement of compliance with regulatory requirements in accordance with the Resolution of July 21, 2017 of the Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines, partially amending the Annex to the Resolution of May 3, 2010. You will find the official notification form here.

All documentation can be submitted via the website of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. For more information about this procedure, visit the website of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines will notify the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) and the Strategic Reserves of Petroleum Products Corporation (CORES) of the incorporation of a new shipper into the Spanish gas system.

The CNMC website contains a list of companies engaged in the shipping of natural gas where you can check that your company details are correct.

Once this procedure has been completed, you can contact us to continue with the registration process as a shipper. Enagás Transporte has a multidisciplinary team that will be happy to answer any queries you may have.
