(*) No working days were lost in Chile in 2018 owing to own employee work-related accidents.
(**) There was a fatal accident at the GNL Quintero regasification plant in Chile involving a contractor carrying out maintenance activities on a seawater intake tower. Two investigations conducted, one internally and the other externally by the ABS Consulting firm concluded that the death of the diving supervisor was the result
of the victim’s imprudence. As a consequence of this accident, the Underwater Activities Procedure, the HSSE standards for high-risk activities and the risk matrix were updated; seawater intake maintenance operations were optimised; a protective structure was installed at the seawater intake; and the work permit system and contracting administrator training were enhanced. In July 2018, Instituto Cerdá conducted a post-crisis analysis, concluding with a recommendation report that is being addressed.
