Sustainable development
Enagás shall endeavour to carry out its activities in an environmentally-friendly way, ensuring future resources while also paying particular attention to energy efficiency, the fight against climate change and protecting the environment and its citizens in general.
Continual Adaptation to Applicable Standards
To comply with environmental legislation that applies to its facilities and activities. To take into account the international standards and the legislative tendency in planning activities that may have significant environmental impact, especially relating to those areas in which applicable legislation does not exist.
Contamination Prevention and Evaluation of Potential Risks
To apply the basic contamination prevention and potential risk evaluation principle beginning in the planning stage and when evaluating decisions, up to the start up of new projects and throughout their execution.
Continual improvement.
To ensure continual improvement by designing environmental objectives and targets for those environmental issues which need improving and which have been highlighted using a systemic and periodical evaluation of the environmental management system. Basic tools to be used shall include audits and the use of environmental indicators when assessing the performance made in this field.
Minimise Impact To make a continual effort to identify, characterise and improve the environmental impact resulting from its activities and facilities; and procure to ensure the efficient use of these tools from their inception to the end of their useful life with special attention paid to those used in particularly sensitive areas.
Incorporate Environmental Criteria in Contractor Relations
To incorporate environmental criteria into the decision-making process for awarding service and product contracts, and communicate applicable environmental procedures and requirements to the contractors that work with Enagás.
Environmental Contribution
When necessary, to collaborate with the different administration areas, nongovernmental organisations and public or private institutions in search of solutions to environmental problems.
Environmental Communication and Information
To favour internal and external environmental communication with criteria of transparency, informing employees and the general public about goals reached and about works that are in progress, which are related to environmental control to ensure the data and information regarding the environment which is managed can be traced.
Employee training, motivation and involvement:
To ensure the correct training of employees depending on their activity and to encourage participation from all employees in order to achieve a continual improvement in environmental performance.
